Students from Greenfield Community College’s Shildon Campus had the opportunity to compete in the Enterprise Academy Challenge last week – and achieved a great result!
The students visited the Stadium of Light in Sunderland for the event, organised by Sunderland Football Club’s charitable arm, the Foundation of Light.
The competition is designed to develop links between football and education. This involves a business-based challenge which is set by Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore.
The students from Greenfield had a great day, and were placed third amongst the 8 teams competing.
Yvonne Scott, careers teacher at Greenfield said, “It was a great experience for our young people and they all did very well. I am very proud of them all and the preparation and self-confidence they showed. “Our team was awarded third place and Charlotte Rowley was given a special mention from the judges as the best individual speaker.”
Chris Lambert, one of the students involved said, “Personally I enjoyed the full day in total. The staff of SAFC were great hosts and the presentations were interesting. The tour of the stadium was also a great opportunity for us. Win or lose, the day was great.”
