Receiving the daily post hast become a highlight for residents in Bishop Auckland, thanks to a fun-loving postie who dresses as a new character every day, so far taking on 18 different personas!
Diane Atkinson has been donning a different fancy dress costume for every shift since lockdown began – including Snow White, a Pink Lady and an Oompa Loompa – and residents have been watching for their post to see which character she will become today.
But as well as delivering the post, Diane has also been working alongside Woodhouse Close Community Centre, collecting and delivering much-needed donations for their foodbank, as well as donating £610 in cash she has raised so far in donations and from bonus ball numbers.
This week Diane is on a well-deserved holiday from work, which she had planned to spend in Benidorm with her friends but will now be spending at home. However she won’t be taking a break from her fundraising, as she has asked residents to vote for their favourite costume so far, and she will wear the top six as she carries out tasks around the home to keep people smiling. All she asks is that you donate to Woodhouse Close Community Centre’s foodbank, however small, via her Gofundme page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/woodhouse-close-community-centre.
Diane is also looking for donations or loans of fancy dress costumes so she can surprise residents with something brand new every day. Contact Woodhouse Close Community Centre on 01388 450838, or via their Facebook page, if you can help.
