Mayor of Spennymoor, Cllr Clive Maddison visited the Chikara Dojo in Spennymoor recently, to present three students with awards.
Awards were given to youngest and oldest members, Jack Walker and Stevie Bingham, and a further award was presented to club secretary, Keeley Nixon.
“It was a great honour to have our mayor pop along and to recognise our hard working staff and students,” said chief instructor, Adam Walker.
“All too often, grass roots clubs are overlooked in favour of bigger organisations, so we are very happy that our mayor came to visit us.
“On behalf of all our member and supporters I would like to say a big thank you to Cllr Maddison for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and see what our club is all about.
“Kyokushin karate is a great way to keep fit, lose weight and develop a strong body and mind.
“For almost two decades now the Chikara Dojo in Spennymoor has catered for all ages and abilities. Come along, see for yourself and give it a try?
“You will not be tied into a contract and there are different payment options to suit all pockets.”
