Local man saves life

On the afternoon of Saturday 1st October, an eighteen-year-old member of staff at the Bishop Auckland branch of Wetherspoons in the Market Place collapsed in the kitchen.

She suffered a seizure and stopped breathing.

The manager rang 999 and local man Sam Race performed CPR on her while on the phone to the operator.

Sam did this until the teenager finally took a breath and the ambulance and paramedics arrived. A spokesperson said: “What a hero! He acted quickly and calmly and can not be praised enough for his life saving actions.”
