Tributes to pedestrian who died in Spennymoor collision

A PEDESTRIAN who tragically died following a collision with a car has been named as John Taylor from Spennymoor.

Mr Taylor, 38, was involved in a collision with a red Volkswagen Polo on Clarence Street, Spennymoor, in the early hours of Saturday, December 23.

In a statement, his family said: “It is with deepest regret that we announce the death of John Taylor, son, dad, brother and uncle, who was involved in a tragic road traffic collision in Spennymoor on December 23.

“He was a much loved son and will be sadly missed. We wish to thank everyone for their support so far, however we ask for privacy to grieve at this difficult time.”

The incident happened at around 3.45am. The driver of the Polo was uninjured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 70 of December 23.
