Sun comes out for Fun Day

Fortunately for local residents, the terrible wet weather running up to the Family Fun Day at Chilton’s Miners Welfare Recreation Ground eased off just in time for an enjoyable, sunny outdoor event to take place on Saturday 15th June.

The Fun Day was extremely well attended and everyone certainly seemed to be having lots of fun.

With an array of activities on offer, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained, especially the younger visitors.

Visitors enjoyed tennis, face painting, traditional games, archery, golf and many more activities.

Friends of the Park were kind enough to serve light refreshments throughout the day.

During the event the Gala Princess and Attendant competition was held.

All entrants were given a raffle ticket which was drawn at 12 noon.

The lucky winner, chosen as the Gala Princess was Evelyn. Three Attendants, Emma, Ella-Rose and Deniz were also selected.

The Miners Welfare Trustees would like to thank everyone who assisted at the event and everyone who attended.

Chilton’s Mayor, Councillor Elizabeth Bruce held a raffle and, thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets, a total of £103 was raised in aid of her chosen causes, which are the Christmas lights and local charities and organisations in the town.

More fundraising by the mayor will take place throughout the civic year.
