Shildon Running Club round-up

Last weekend, on a bright but very chilly Sunday, Emma Flynn, Ian Rudge and James Ross took part in the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k.

Ian was first home with a time of 49 minutes, closely followed by James (1:06.49) and Emma (1.13:41).

On Friday night, Shildon AFC kindly hosted the draw for Shildon Running & Athletics Club’s place in the 2018 London Marathon.

Entries to the draw were limited to club members who had applied to run the marathon next year but had been unsuccessful, giving all club members a second chance to take part in the iconic London race.

Shannon Ross was the name drawn from the hat, and SRAC are looking forward to not only helping Shannon with her training but also supporting her next April when she runs the 26.2 miles!

Last weekend Jon Marshall was disappointed not to get a personal best with a time of 3 hours, 6 minutes at the Dublin Marathon – however he was delighted to have finished 688th in a field of over 20,000 entrants.

Also last Sunday, but much closer to home, Leigh Towers completed the Hexham 10K in a time of 41 minutes, 51 seconds.

On Sunday 22nd October, two Shildon runners took part in the Osmotherly Hardmoors Trail Race.

Ian Rudge completed the half-marathon, running the 16.6 miles in a time of 3:58:11 and Emma Flynn did the 10K in 1:59:26.
