M&M Pharmacy in Bishop Auckland has welcomed Helen Goodman MP to see the important preparations to fight against this year’s Flu virus. The pharmacy has now launched its annual service offering both free NHS vaccinations and a private vaccination for those not eligible on the NHS. The pharmacy is offering vaccinations throughout all opening hours with no appointment necessary, just call in and wait to see one of the vaccinating pharmacists. The free NHS vaccine is available to those over 65 and anybody with a specified long-term condition that could put them at risk of the flu being serious for them, this also includes pregnant women and carers.

Peter Horrocks, Superintendent Pharmacist, warns: “The flu virus can be particularly harmful over the winter months, yet it can be so easily prevented by receiving your annual vaccination. It is vitally important for the elderly and those who we deem as being of high clinical risk to receive their NHS vaccination. But for anyone else who wants to make sure they stay healthy and fit for work our private vaccination at just £10 provides great value and peace of mind.”

During her visit the Bishop Auckland MP took advantage of the service and received her annual vaccination in the pharmacy.

Helen Goodman MP said: “Receiving my vaccine at the pharmacy was simple and straight forward, I hope you will do the same. Flu is horrible and you can avoid it, also the NHS experiences tremendous pressures during the winter months if more people receive the vaccination hopefully, we can ease some of the winter pressures in our NHS.”

Steve Mills, Manager of M&M Pharmacy, said: “We would like to thank Helen for taking time to visit our pharmacy and highlight the importance of not only receiving the flu vaccine but doing it early before the busy winter period sets in.”

M&M Pharmacy is offering this service in all its local branches. (Newgate Street, Escomb Road, Shildon and Meadowfield)
