Cllr Maddison said: “I’m really honoured to have been able to help a local club in the town which helps young people get off the streets and at the same time produces champions, of which there have been numerous over the years.
“The boxing club, which has been a success story in the town for thirty years, is run entirely by volunteers, giving its members a wonderful grounding.
“The club is open seven days a week with training taking place every midweek evening and on weekend mornings.
“It also has a thriving girls sections and all are welcome to join.”
