Ferryhill Town Council has recently supported Ferryhill’s Young Ambassadors by donating £200 towards their recent project.

Glenys Newby of Approach Too works with young people in Ferryhill to raise the aspirations of children and young people and provide opportunities for them to meet their aspirations.  The group of young people, known as School Ambassadors, is made up of children from all the local schools.

The Ambassadors for Community Change have been running campaigns to clean up their Community.  Funding was recently provided by Livin to place dog poop-a-scoop bag dispensers outside all schools in Ferryhill.  The donation received from Ferryhill Town Council will purchase 3,200 poop-scoop bags to fill the dispensers.  Glenys Newby of Approach Too said “this project provides a safe environment for children plus the young people will maintain and look after the dispensers creating responsibility and an understanding of community involvement.

Some of the School Ambassadors visited Ferryhill Town Hall this week to receive the donation from the Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Joe Makepeace, speaking after the presentation, Councillor Makepeace said “It was a pleasure to provide this group of young people with a donation on behalf of Ferryhill Town Council, they should all be very proud of themselves taking an interest in our Town and encouraging residents to clean up after their dogs.”
