Chilton buildings, parks and play areas close to public

Chilton Town Council offices and recreation facilities are closed to the public until further notice.

Chilton Town Council has announced the closure of the town’s public buildings and recreation facilities.

A spokesperson said: “Due to concerns about the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, in the interests of the health and safety of our staff and visitors, the town council has closed all recreation facilities and buildings to the public, namely:

  • Town Council Offices;
  • Pavilion in the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground;
  • Deanbridge Play Area;
  • Chilton Academy Play Area;
  • Pentlands Play Area;
  • Rushyford Park Play Area;
  • Changing rooms in the Charlie Wayman Football Ground.

“Please do not use any of the equipment at any of the sites in the interests of everyone’s health and wellbeing.

“Council meetings will be suspended until further notice.

“Staff continue to work and enquiries relating to the town can be made by calling 01388 721788 or sending an email to info@chiltondurham-tc.gov.uk  

“In order to keep residents informed we will regularly update the website: www.chiltondurham-tc.gov.uk and have created a new Facebook page: Chilton Town Council Outreach

“Any local groups, schools, places of worship, doctors, dentist are welcome to forward details via email and we will add to our website and Facebook page.

“The Town Council urges readers to adhere to government guidelines and stay safe. In these unprecedented times we all need to look after each other.”
