With clear skies and bright sunshine, Saturday November 18th turned out to be a perfect day for a wedding.

Saint John’s Church, decorated with hundreds of blue and white roses with twinkling lights set amongst them, looked magical as the wedding party arrived.

The two best men, Martin Ryan and Martyn Allan accompanied the groom Andrew Mitchell through the front doors, while ring bearer Rueben waited for the bride.

The ushers, Michael Heighington and Peter Heighington, distributed blue rose button holes to the 150 guests as they arrived, whilst the orders of service were distributed by Rueben.

With page boys, Jack, Ethan, Luke and Dexter, arriving in a vintage wedding car, there was a real sense of expectation.

The bridesmaids and flower girls crowded into the foyer to get out of the cold air.

With each dressed in dark blue full-length dresses topped with faux fur white stoles designed to coordinate with the decoration in the church, Natasha Mitchell, Rachael Denham, Evie Beard, Gemma Musgrave, Gemma Feanon, and Sarah Tindale looked beautiful.

The flowergirls, Kiera, Sophia, and Sophia coordinated beautifully, while Gabrielle, dressed all in white had the special job of spreading petals before the bride.

The Bride, Miss Vicki Heighington, looked radiant, as she arrived on the arm of Dad, Gary.

Dressed in a full length white dress, studded with diamanté, cinched in at the waist with a diamanté band and embroidered with floral decoration full train and tiara she looked stunning.

The bride’s attendants were led down the aisle by a chimney sweep to the sound of a harp, while a trumpet accompanied the organ as the bride entered.

The service, accompanied by much laughter and joy, was conducted by the Rev. Canon David Tomlinson while Sophia Moore, Peter Heighington and Martin Allan did the readings.

Gemma Musgrave sang a solo during the signing of the register to much applause and Saint John’s Church Choir led the singing and while the bell ringing band announced the happy event to the world!

After the service the brand new Mr and Mrs Mitchell retired with their guests to the Civic Hall for a reception before jetting off for a honeymoon in Cape Verde, just off the coast of East Africa.
