Guerilla Gardeners make town more beautiful

Green fingered pupils from Timothy Hackworth Primary School volunteered to tidy and improve a planter, which was donated by New Shildon Residents’ Association to Locomotion Museum.

They worked hard to give the planter a fresh new look, removing and recycling the old plants before digging in some new compost and adding white geraniums and petunias.

The work is all part of the Guerrilla Gardening project in Shildon, which involves young people through Shildon Town Council and Shildon Alive!, A Saint John’s Church project.

Timothy Hackworth year 6 pupils spoke about the right to a beautiful town as a rights respecting school.

The staff at the museum were delighted with the new look planter and asked for comments on their Facebook page.
